  1. Bhavesh, he posed very nicely for you...wings spread, sitting calmly...you must be a bird whisperer!!

I've been reading up on Ganesha...there are certainly some beautiful statues of him all over India. I really want to see the one in Pune!

    1. Thank you Carmen. Let's hope I get to photograph more and more birds in the future.

You have to visit Dagdusheth Ganpati in Pune. But beware, there's huge crowd 24x7 over there.

  3. Standing
    at the air lectern
    displaying full plumage
    hands held out
    in messiah position,
    addressing
    all the trunks and bushes
    I practised my maiden speech.

    Only to hear
    wild crowd noises
    shouting against me
    and approaching
    from the left
    iron rods and tar
    and ink pots in hand.

    I watched,
    wings together,
    terrified,
    and looked away,
    thinking.....

    And I raised my wings,
    once again,
    to shrug off all doubts,
    taking courage
    from the man,
after whom the garden was named.

    He would have
    been amused
    at the thoughtless protests
    in throwing
    dark colors
    on someone
    who was already black,
    but shining..
