Monkeys of Jaipur - Funny Terror!

Monkeys of Jaipur — they are funny, but they are a terror; they are stealers and nasty. People literally run inside their homes, and close all doors and windows seeing these monkeys, because open doors and windows mean invitation for the monkeys to steal away refrigerated items, grocery, fresh fruits & vegetables, and everything these monkeys can steal and eat. If you don't allow, they will tear your clothes, scratch you, bite you!

The funny terror monkeys I photographed were a bit away, and did not look like those stealers in groups. I cautiously snapped some photographs. It was a family of 4. They were relaxing.

Usually, these monkeys travel in huge groups, and are unstoppable. They have at least one leader male called Bhadu by locals. He's the biggest one with reddest face and reddest base. Locals say that these monkeys are way more intelligent than you can think of them to be. In fact, the family I photographed was no less. In front of my eyes, they climbed the top of the bungalow, opened the water tank, had dips inside, etc.

  2. Gosh, Bhavesh, you got some fabulouos pictures. I'd like to see them but I would NOT like to have one bite me. Even though I've completed a pre-rabies series now, I would not have to undergo the rabies shots when I get to India!

I'll be in India Nov 19th after a two day visit to Seoul!

  3. I guess this is the tribute we have to pay when we live too close to wildlife, especially this kind of animals that can find food in our house, but I also guess this is not pleasant at all... Nice shots you got!

  4. Lol we have those at our Toronto Zoo, and once they were doing these embarrassing things around like picking on their butts that we were laughing with tears in our eyes. Thanks for sharing your story, and hope all is well. Cute photos. Anna :)

  5. @ Neha: Really! It's very cute :) Their terror there too!

@ RNSANE: Beware! They may bite if troubled or not cooperated with :) Welcome to India by the way.

@ chris: It's a mixed feeling for the locals to keep wildlife beside! I'm happy that you liked the photographs :)

@ Anna: Haha. Glad you liked the photos! All is well :)

  6. Looking on
    intrigued
    at the different
    modus operandi
    for different folks,
    the little one wonders
    if
he is cut out for it.

    False Bravado
    Cunning,
    Polite threats
    Lies masquerading as truths,
    Showing muscle,
    and grabbing the goodies.

    He scratches,
    contemplating an internship.
    A rustle of leaves
    and fur,
    and the leader arrives,
    on the stage
    beside him,
    craving hot action,
    and stretches,
    mobilizing muscles and thoughts.

    Watch me , young fellow,
    and learn,
how to be an intimidating leader,
    grabbing at will
    what isn't his,
    marauding dwellings
    and people,
striding with a fake sense of
    importance,
    and when
    the investigators come,
    stand watching from a distance
    with a look of concern....

    No education, no degrees,
    no appraisals, no retirements,
    just enjoying the fruits
    of the labour

    It's just that
    it is someone else's labour.

    Nishkaam karma ...
    I work
    without expectation
of the fruit of my labour....

    What to do ?
It simply falls into my hands.
