This indeed is one of the best pictures of my Kas Plateau trip. Clear flower bed background, and a beautiful bird perched on a rock!

This insect was so small! The flower in the previous picture was as small as 1 cm in diameter. Now imagine the size of this small creature :) It was photographed at the beautiful Kas Plateau.
Sorry for overstretching this picture, but this insect was so small, and I had to show it to you all! Do you see the cute little orange-like blob with 2 red dots as eyes? The stretched picture above is a part of the photo above it. The flower was about 1 cm in diameter. Now imagine the size of this small creature roaming on it :)

What a beauty this place holds! Have you heard about the Valley of Flowers in the Himalayas in India? Kas plateau can be called the the Valley of Flowers of the Maharashtra state of India. It blooms with exclusive flowers every September. I went for a feast for my eyes on 20-September-2009, and took just breathtaking views of the heavenly place. Imagine how it feels to see a big natural process that occurs for just 20 days in a year! It's like seeing the GOD's showcase. To see the photos from there click Kas Plateau Photos.

The plateau is a muddy place that grows small flowering shrubs in monsoon. In the end of the monsoon, the shrubs give a bounty of flowers seemingly sprinkled by the almighty. Why don't I have a balloon to see it from above? Well, for now, you may enjoy the photographs taken from down on the surface.

I hope you will enjoy these magnificent flowers. I eagerly await your comments.

How to reach there?
On NH-4, reach Satara city. Ask anyone how to go to Kas. There's a road in Satara, up from the state transport bus stop. It reaches a place named Rajwada. Driving up, you reach a short tunnel. Don't go in, but take right. The road will take you to Kas. It's about 25 kms from the tunnel.

When to go?
From mid September to mid October, roughly.

Precautions:
Carry raincoats if you are on bikes. Take safety measures as the road is from deep valleys initially.

Food and stay:
Only a couple of very basic hotels on the road. Nothing nearby to the Kas plateau. Carry your own food if you need to.

Guide:
Contact me, and I will arrange a tour for you. Write to bvcblog@gmail.com. I do undertake private tours to beautiful, natural and ancient places in and around Pune.

Products for Toddlers

The world has become so easy now. Remember those times when there was nothing called Internet in this world? Now with the information era, and the great evolution of the Internet, finding any information is just "easy".

I was searching for good toddler and baby products, and glued myself to a wonderful website. Yes, click on the link to get there. The website is like Google. On Google, we find relevant websites. On this website, we find relevant products. And I feel that they don't have any contract with the product manufacturers. It's just a simple yet powerful search engine for all the products.

I found many other items such as Toddler Clothing, Toys and Games, Activity Sets, etc. Check them out!

For quick links to quite a good list of products, click on the following…

Bell Flowers

Twin Bell Flowers on the shore of Dimbhe dam backwater

I don't know the scientific name of this beautiful flower I found near Bhimashankar. To be precise, it was near the shores of the Dimbhe dam backwaters.

About 5 feet tall plant was just decorated with these beautiful flowers. Do you know the exact name?

Building a New Home

Roaming in the vast expanses of nature and wildlife, we learn so many new things and understand so much about the diversity of the natural world. What we mainly come to know, always, is that we are fools by believing that we are better than the other species. The fact is going to remain static that all the species, in comparison with human beings, are far more intelligent, capable and adapted. They don't dig mountains, create cement, create iron rods, burn soil to create bricks, etc. to build their dream home. They just use those simple and beautiful resources that nature has provided them in abundance in ready-to-use form. And what those species create is just amazing.

On my trip to the base of Sinhagad, I refreshed a feeling strongly present in me — the feeling of being able to get closer to the natural world, of being able to enjoy more of the other species' happiness than my own, of being in opposition to destroying some other species' home to create our own.

Scroll down if you want to get THAT feeling.

Build a New Home

I always feel guilty on the other side that I'm not completely out of those severe looters of the natural world.

I Got Moonlight!

Celeste Maia — a wonderful artist has created a moonlight painting. She has awarded it to the best she has found in the blogging community. I am so glad that she thought of me in her list :) I am accepting the Moonlight, and am showcasing it in this post.
