Long-tailed Shrike

Long-tailed Shrike

Birds are just amazing, aren't they? The first things that my mind thinks when I see a bird, is a dream to fly, to see the world from a bird's perspective, to feel the freedom a bird has while flying.

The location of the photograph is the same one mentioned in my previous post on a dragonfly.

  1. absolutely gorgeous!

When I see a bird all I can think of is "What are they chirping about?" Be nice to understand animals :P.

  12. Excellent photographic skills.Captured at a very serene moment.Seems like you share a telepathy with the bird and you said "cheese n freeze"and the bird just did that.I checked out your wife's blog. It's amazing! You are a very talented couple! You remind me of my friend Hari who was a nature photographer who was so talented but he is no more now.Was killed in a train accident along with his equally talented wife Roshni in hyderabad.Just memories shared with you!

  15. Oh my, a shrike!

We also call the "the butcher birds," because they are very fierce and hang up their prey!

A very famous science fiction story uses a creature called "the Shrike" to strike fear in readers' hearts. Look at that eye and beak -- this is no little songbird...this is a bird of prey.

  25. Sorry Viji. It's sad to know about Hari and Roshni. Sometimes we don't understand reasons behind many unacceptable things happening.

  31. Hi Jacob, yes indeed you can take great pictures of birds. But much patience is needed! Of course, a great lens is needed too. Sadly, I don't have a good telephoto lens. Am using just 250 mm focal length for now.
